Scientists from Serbia, Bulgaria, Romania, Greece, Turkey, Israel shown their interest in setting up such a sub regional network.
Following the first course in ICTP, some colleagues suggested that a sub-regional
action could be led in Balkans.The idea is to validate and calibrate locally
developed RCM's (Regional Circulation Models) against other avalaible RCM's,
and take advantage of local measurement facilities. That initiative was endorsed
by the RICAMARE Steering Committee during its last meeting (Istanbul, June 18-19,
2001). Some preliminary contacts have already been taken, enlarging it to the
Eastern Mediterranean basin.
