Studying land-cover/land use transects in the Mediterranean




    In a communication to the Casablanca workshop (Task 4) and during the Medenine workshop (Task 1), Pr. M. Talbi emphasised that the Mediterranean region was facing strong pressures from both cimate change and socio-economic pressures.. Studying such phenomena on an geographically exhaustive basis is not realistic. The recommended approach is to define and lead studies along transects, which is a classical approach in other projects and other parts of the world.  .

The transect could be enlarged to the Franch-Italian riviera, since a French scientist joined the team :


This team issued the document "Assessing the impact of natural and human changes in the Mediterranean climatic, ecological and socio-economic systems vulnerability utilising a series of transects through the Mediterranean Sea. " and is looking for partners to strengthen the team and to initiate studies along other transects.
